That is to generate collision of small lights on the surface layer to produce light on a certain surface while reflecting and projecting big shadow on another.
The Japanese and Western combined-styled design idea of Osu Yukizaki VIP salon was conceived from the town of Osu where foreign cultures, Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines are nicely blended. This chic social venue for adults is located at a little distance away from the busy commercial district.
Folding screen as a highlight of the Western-style room
A wall is decorated in the form of folding screen in this Western-style room with subdued illumination. Pearlescent pigment is applied on the orderly folded accordion surface. A pattered design is drawn on top of it by hand work, adding warmth and shade of light. The same pearlescent pigment is similarly applied to the coved ceiling, adding depth to the ceiling height by creating contrasting intensity of the reflected light.
In front of the folding screen wall, terraced display cases are placed, which are triple-tiered as one old Japanese saying goes, “There is luck in odd numbers”. Furthermore, a solid drink counter, inspired by tiered lacquer box, is located at the front with the shop crest inscribed on the surface. A set of furniture and fixtures in this room are finished with baking coating with the color of champagne gold.
Beside the window, three display cases with wooden frames are installed, which idea comes from the Western-style big picture frame. They create a dignified atmosphere in the space.
It is a space where the interference effect of the light is applied to the Japanese and Western combined-styled formal beauty.
