Cangnan Tanglayaxiu Hotel

Cangnan Tanglayaxiu Hotel is situated in the core business district of Cangnan New Area in Wenzhou. It is a landmark integration of modern hotel complex and the local cultural essence of Cangnan.

The project is constructed following the aesthetic standards of modern minimalism. The design team drew inspiration from the unique peaks and rocks of Yucang Mountain, part of the Longmai range in Cangnan (a major mountain range of great significance in Chinese Feng Shui). The majestic posture of the mountains and rocks is seamlessly incorporated into the architectural design, creating a harmonious resonance with Yucang Mountain. Simultaneously, the beauty of the rocks on Yucang Mountain is translated into the architectural blocks, showcasing a scattered and stacked arrangement that forms a landmark gateway representing the landscape of mountains and waters in southern Zhejiang.

In addition, the design team based its work on Cangnan's intangible cultural heritage—the blue indigo batik dyeing technique. They interpreted the visual beauty of the blue indigo batik template through large-scale folded glass, surface details, and aluminum panel exteriors, using these techniques to convey the craftsmanship and sculptural sense unique to the blue indigo batik tradition in a modern context.



With a high construction intensity and a plot ratio of 4.3, the project aims to create a high-quality ecological environment. To achieve this, the project seamlessly integrates with the urban green space system around the site. The design team innovatively proposes the concept of "three-dimensional ecological sharing." Through the interspersion of architectural blocks, the project creates multi-level landscape platforms, rooftop gardens, and large glass windows, introducing external landscapes. This integration achieves a perfect blend with the surrounding natural landscapes and urban green belts, realizing a shared ecological balance. It eliminates the sense of disconnection between the project and the city, forming an architecturally organic community that grows naturally. The project interprets the beauty of Cangnan's nature and culture to the neighborhood in a natural, harmonious, and elegant manner.
