Kam-Chia Bistro

Based in Zhuhai, China, Kam-Chia Bistro is a Taiwanese-style pub which inspired by the authentic reconstruction of the old streets of Tainan.

The owner, upon their first visit to Beishan in Zhuhai, felt a sense of warmth and familiarity, as if they had returned to their hometown of Tainan. They dreamed of opening a pub that could bring authentic Taiwanese snacks and ambiance to the domestic market.





The project is located in an old two-story building. The challenge of the renovation lies in completely removing the original load-bearing walls to create a spacious and open space. While maintaining an overall open and transparent space, the design team used concrete columns and beams to reinforce the structure, preserving its texture and engaging with the old walls.





The design theme of the space is centered around the concept of home. The designer intentionally retained original details such as wooden doors and door gods, and through the use of vintage ceramic objects, mosaics, and other decorations, the design team aimed to recreate a historical atmosphere.



By recreating memories of the old street through design, the design team create a warm and familiar Taiwanese cultural atmosphere for customers, where they can find inner peace in nostalgia.
