The Tyrrell Grand Prix Concept Car represents a pioneering venture in the evolution of hybrid Formula 1 racing, inspired by the 1970s P34 six-wheel race car. This concept challenges the current limitations of modern F1 racing, particularly the scarcity of overtaking, which diminishes its thrill. The car's design focuses on revamping aerodynamics, aiming to reduce turbulent air flow behind the car and lower the center of gravity. This initiative breathes new life into the six-wheel configuration, previously hindered by material constraints, now re-envisioned for contemporary racing.

Distinct from traditional car designs that often emphasize aesthetics, this project prioritizes aerodynamics and the interaction between human and machine, informing the design of both its interior and exterior. The car's innovative powertrain features a novel arrangement of four horizontally aligned rotor engine cylinders. Replacing the weighty crankshaft with a lightweight composite chain drive and substituting the timing belt with electronic induction coils, the design innovates on multiple fronts. The suspension, inspired by the lightweight yet sturdy nature of avian skeletons, utilizes a derivative design to achieve both reduced weight and increased durability.

The car's body construction is another area of innovation. Utilizing large-scale foamed fiber composite materials, it achieves a reduction in weight and cost, making the previously expensive carbon fiber bodies more accessible and providing greater protection for drivers in the event of collisions.

An additional groundbreaking aspect is the integration of an AI robotic race driver. This technology is designed to stream real-time sensory data to audiences via virtual reality, offering an immersive and interactive viewing experience. This concept car aims to not only usher in a new era of racing technology but also to revolutionize how spectators engage with the sport, bringing them closer to the action while advancing automotive design and technology.
