The KSA Pavilion embodies KSA’s commitment to sustainability. Exemplifying the Nation's diverse landscapes and ambitious environmental goals, our design integrates heritage and culture with futuristic technology. When visitors first approach the pavilion, they encounter the diversity of landscapes in Saudi Arabia, from deserts to mangroves. This is displayed on the monumental Tuwaiq-inspired LED-feature which encircles the pavilion, as well as the different types of xeriscapes that surround it. Each xeriscape has symbolic representations of distinct graphic elements, shapes, and materials. Then, visitors are welcomed into a lush, green garden, depicting Saudi Arabia’sfuture, after the successful implementation of their green initiatives. Central to this storytelling and design were the interpretive plinths, whose triangular shape is an architectural nod to the traditional Najdi style. These plinths varied in size and purpose, ranging from the Welcome Plinth, an introductory guide and visual focal point, to standing plinths equipped with video screens for thematic storytelling. Smaller reader-level plinths were interspersed throughout, offering concise, focused information. After meandering around the garden, visitors are led to an indoor space that further elaborates upon Saudi Arabia’s commitment to a shared and sustainable future. Here, design elements like interactive screens and hologram pillars were employed, marrying technology with design to mirror the futuristically extraordinary nature of green initiatives. We conclude the experience with an immersive show, which addresses the process of greening through abstract, aesthetic, and poignant scenes. We have created five different narratives for this show, each taking place in a Saudi Arabian landscape and illustrative of sustainable practices and conservation efforts. With this as the grand finale of the experience, visitors leave the pavilion not just aware of sustainable efforts, but inspired by its story and motivated to participate. This pavilion is not just a space but a narrative in design, leading visitors through a thoughtfully crafted, aesthetically pleasing, and informative journey. It is isan invitationto explore, to learn, and to be inspired.
