Lovi Center is a biophilic mixed-use development designed to be an expressive floral-inspired urban oasis in contrast with the monochromatic urban fabric of ancient city Xi’an.

The 229,000sqm development is located in a residential neighbourhood and bound by a greenbelt. Premised on nature, the architectural and interior design are inspired by the garden city. Flanked by two towers in the form of flower buds, the 6-storey mall takes an iconic form and is layered with 100% natural plants throughout the atria, arcade and roof. It acts as an extension of the green belt and a connector that links the offices and 5-star hotel, accessible to all.

Unique design elements include dynamic ETFE canopies that wrap around the mall to reveal the main entrances, provide protection to the roof garden and a backdrop to lightshows. A glass funnel cladded with LED screen connects the ground floor atrium to the roof, bringing natural daylight into the mall’s major event space, while the digital imagery surrounding the funnel transforms the interior into an immersive environment at night. A glass bridge around the top of the funnel accessed from the roof garden forms a viewing deck to the mesmerizing waterfall below.

Lovi Centre fuses nature, art and architecture to form a new urban retail typology. It changes the urban retail landscape and become an iconic retail-leisure-entertainment hub since its opening. The rooftop garden acts as a park for the public – it contains an amphitheatre, alfresco dining, event zones and ample landscaping for public enjoyment. The mall contains a mixture of restaurants, shops, cinema, specialty stores and kids adventure park providing a one-stop destination that enlivens the district and enriches the lives of locals. A collection of artwork, such as contemporary terracotta warriors referencing Xi’an’s rich history are strategically placed as part of mall’s way-finding strategy.
