XinChang Community Center New Construction

The "Xincheng Civic Activity Center" in Xizhi District is a public building that seamlessly blends modern design with local culture. Through participatory planning, the center has incorporated a wide range of opinions and needs from the community, placing people at the heart of the design process and transforming the space into the hub of the community.
The architect paid special attention to the region’s hot and rainy climate, selecting highly adaptive materials like brick and terrazzo. The design features a large sloped roof and double-layered exterior walls to enhance ventilation, natural lighting, and water drainage, balancing both aesthetics and functionality. The geometric simplicity of the slanted panels reduces the oppressive feel of the building’s height, creating a vibrant street corner landscape.
The building supports diverse activities such as senior tea gatherings, reading areas, and cultural classrooms, underscoring the importance of architecture as a symbol of community spirit. Every brick and tile is meticulously placed, making the project a living center that connects the past with the future, fostering community cohesion and cultural heritage.
