This project is situated deep within the lush forests of Luzhen, Shucheng, Anhui, in the scenic Dabie Mountains. The site was originally a long-abandoned dormitory, nestled against the mountainside, backed by towering bamboo forests, and facing a valley. It is adjacent to the Lin Shui Yu Quan Dabie Mountain Cave-Aged Winery, which boasts the largest cave-aged baijiu storage capacity in East China. It is hoped that through design and renovation, the space can be transformed into a comprehensive destination integrating accommodation, dining, wellness, tasting, social interaction, and relaxation, becoming a boutique resort hotel that combines natural sightseeing with cultural experiences. The architectural design blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The building exteriors feature clean lines and modern materials, complemented by traditional Chinese architectural elements such as sloping roofs and courtyard layouts. This fusion reflects both the simplicity and functionality of modern architecture and the depth of cultural heritage, striking a balance between contemporary and traditional styles. The original red brick walls have been repainted in the traditional white of Anhui architecture, standing out harmoniously amidst the dense forest. To enhance spatial functionality and flow, a connecting corridor has been added between two buildings, serving as a reception area and creating an enclosed courtyard, improving the overall spatial coherence and comfort. The corridor, designed in a natural style with large glass windows, allows natural light and external views to permeate, enabling guests to experience the surrounding rocks and bamboo forest while moving through the space, enhancing the interaction between the interior and the environment. Overall, the design centers on the theme of "Mountain and Water Secret Retreat, Bamboo Forest Mountain Residence," adhering to the principles of respecting and integrating with nature. Through coordinated architectural, interior, landscape, and furnishing designs, the project creates a space that meets modern functional needs while exuding a natural and cultural ambiance. "Living by the mountain, sleeping by the water, singing while drunk, what more could one ask for in life?" The owners and design team have used space as a medium to provide visitors with a cultural experience and unique emotional value.
