This project redefines the resort experience by merging hospitality with art and nature, transforming an outdated building into a high-end artistic retreat. To address the original flaws of a closed layout and poor lighting, 95% of guest rooms now enjoy triple views of lake, mountain, and artistic landscapes. Walls were opened for patios, and corridors reimagined as art galleries, creating a fluid dialogue between architecture, culture, and environment.
Rooted in Jingchu culture and inspired by wabi-sabi aesthetics, the design emphasizes coexistence with landscapes and art. Rather than stacking cultural symbols superficially, it integrates Tianyu Lake’s unique ecology with site-specific narratives. Guests encounter a “triple resonance” of nature, art, and life, satisfying modern desires for meaningful, spiritual travel while reinforcing a strong sense of place.
Architecturally, curved volumes echo the forms of surrounding mountains and water, with local sandstone and ultra-clear glass blending the resort into its setting. Interiors layer natural materials with shifting light and shadow, while outdoor landscapes include mirror-water courtyards, lakeside paths, forest trails, and interactive art installations. The result is a full-process artistic journey—from an artistic water curtain wall at the entrance to private in-room art nooks and immersive outdoor scenes.
The 34 guest rooms combine comfort and artistry with private balconies, bathrooms opening to lake views, and facilities such as artistic meeting rooms, a spa, and a boutique. The design delivers a “four-dimensional experience”: visual resonance with nature and art, auditory moments shaped by breezes and installations, tactile warmth of natural textures, and mental ease that transitions guests from urban hustle to tranquility.
Sustainability is central, following a principle of minimum intervention. Local sandstone, bamboo, wood reduce embodied energy; low-energy LEDs minimize light pollution; and water-saving fixtures support conservation. Socially, the project revitalizes regional culture and fosters artistic exchange, establishing a replicable model for “ecology + art” resorts.
By integrating nature, art, and life into a holistic system, the project fills a gap in Central China’s hospitality market. It avoids the homogenization of traditional hotels, elevates the brand hierarchy of Tianyu Lake Resort, and appeals to diverse audiences—from art enthusiasts to high-end families and business travelers.
