Constructing the Mountains and the Sea

The homeowner couple, who had long been living overseas, decided to go back to Taiwan and settle down in their hometown—Toucheng, Yilan. After a long quest, they finally found a dream land at an appropriate distance from both the mountains and the sea for their villa house.
What the homeowner couple wants most is a life close to nature, without being too remote to enjoy the convenience of the city. Given the fact that the villa is not located close to a park or the beach, a new architectural work is thus organized to make for a unique slow life that strikes a balance between nature and the city.
As there is a house on either side of the villa, its natural light and view could be obstructed—typical in any city in Taiwan yet quite a challenge nonetheless. The designer maximizes both the front and the rear entrances, so that the mountains and the coastline can be seen even indoors. And on nights without light pollution here in Toucheng, when one looks up one can see stunning and magnificent view of a sky filled with a myriad of stars.
In addition, installed on the east and west sides are partitions that can be opened or closed as needed. When opened, they allow hot air to be released and cool air to be directed in automatically based on accurate calculation of air circulation. In this way, indoor air quality is maintained.
An eye-catching, impressive villa house is thus born. Its design strikes a perfect balance between the clients’ needs, construction budget, and control over impact on the natural environment. Day or night, it allows for a sustainable view exclusive to its dwellers, in order that the beauty of the four seasons can be fully appreciated.
