Ocean manor courtyard Landscape

This work of general courtyard layout, a combination of the European style building and the Eastern garden expression technique, makes a trade-off between both cultures using the most intuitive visual contrast, and provides the owner with a private and ample relaxing space. The courtyard looks simple and majestic and features variant landscape. Closely fitting the building cluster and following the rule of “one step makes a difference”, the landscape plan fully satisfies the needs of having landscape setups viewed from a plurality of angles in courtyard. Blending the idyllic style of outdoor living with the landscape color palettes, this work exploits water, stones and plants to create a portfolio of pavements, water features, sculptures and pavilions, which puts the luxury and elegance of the courtyard under the spotlight. The plants are distributed in lumps and arranged in staggered heights to make layers and impressive forms and colors. With the north of the dwelling at the lakeside, a landscape promenade is designed by making use of the height difference between the dwelling and the river bank. On the one hand, this design is expected to reduce the impact of the winter monsoon. On the other hand, it can preserve the lake view to the extent possible and blur the interior and exterior bounds of the dwelling, “spaced but not isolated, bounded but not confined”.
