About The Entry

The overall planning is simply divided into the top and bottom layers of public space and private space. Keeping the advantage of the originally sufficient natural lighting, one would come to the connected lounge and workspace upon entering the door, the worktable placed within is ingeniously bathed under sunlight throughout the entire day, offering an open, bright, simple and well-executed overall ambience. As for the private space, spaciousness and comfort are also the key points, where the majority of the partitions are opened up in pursuance of combined functions with a simplified spatial nature. For the design, the details are decorated simply, such that the overall spatial ambience is succinct but not monotonous, and one may sense the designer’s meticulous observations towards life, conveying personal claims of the taste of life.

The application of wood materials is used in the overall cold-toned space, where the transitions of design forms such as grid and grille, as well as white, grey, black and warm wood colors all form different layers within the space. In collaboration to the design principle of simplicity with quality, the wooden surfaces are all finished with water-based paint to maintain the primitive character of the materials, non-trimmed pinewood plywood may also be seen on the furniture, such that one may have a clear view of the traces of wood during the processing procedures. The handles for the cabinets are concealed as much as possible via integration, allowing the cabinet and the wall to form a smooth plane. It is through the subtle processing that one may still feel the “abundance” of the details within the “reduced” space.

Keeping the existing traces of the original old residence together with the exquisite nature conveyed by the overall design, what is presented in the end is a simplified tranquil spatial ambience. The overall style and color tones harmoniously accomplish consistency from the yard to the indoor; the new design silently fuses with the old house, such that both the exterior and the interior of the entire architecture demonstrate a primitive and conservative radiance with quality.
