Landscape Design for Longfor Tianxuancheng

Longfor Tianxuancheng, a complex residential building with integrated features of high-rise, “Goyoo” and commere, is located in Hangzhou, a city renowned for the cultural characteristics of the Song Dynasty. The landscape is designed in an elegant form which intends to interpret the Song Dynasty aesthetics innovatively and reflects the local historical characteristics of Hangzhou. The project brings about the feeling of courtyard-based scenes with different functions and decentralizes the functional layout for ease of daily use. The core area of the venue is turned to a core landscape garden with the Song Dynasty aesthetic symbols, which is coherent with the yardstick of elegant garden – amusing out and viewing in, dynamic out and static in. “Inkstone Pool”, measuring about 2.7 meters long and 1.2 meters wide, 100% hand-cut from black rocks, is the first water scene in the back garden of the lobby, implies the efforts to keep culturally enriched and improve intrinsic quality from time to time. Walking through the main entrance, rocks, flowers and trees form a delightful contrast. The brushwork at the porch is solid. An inkstand is provided under the porch which exhibits the classical courtyard of a higher cultural value in modern brushwork technique. As a part of the main pavilion, overhanging eaves, the element specific to traditional Chinese architecture, is handily applied in the profile, visually perceived as unfettered and graceful, and sensibly perceived as noble and solemn, which is believed to be an appropriate combination of firmness and agility.
