Qingdao Zhitian Kindergarten

Kindergarten is the first stop where kids perceive the world. And our design concept is to create a lively yard where kids can immerse themselves as little masters, like in a forest world.

Qingdao Zhitian kindergarten is designed with the theme of Forests- a Journey of Exploration. Functional areas are decorated with forest elements to show a dreamy forest world, from stump stools to decorative plant walls, diverse green plants, and anthropomorphic animal dolls. We adopted a modern and simple design style. Mainly made of logs, the kindergarten is a pure place exuding an air of rustic natural wilderness.

It has multiple functional areas for kids to carry on daily activities. We designed these functional areas from their perspectives to free them.

In the middle of the art room is a bloomy decorative peach tree, under which we placed a round table and several stump stools. The pleasant scenes enable kids to free themselves. They can paint while chatting with classmates. There are two rows of seats respectively near both side walls. The walls use DIY materials like acrylic plates and graffiti paints for kids to create their own space.

We considered ergonomic sizes and adjusted custom cabinets for kids of all ages according to the growth rule. The reading bench is for kids aged 3 to 4, the reading cabin is for kids aged 4 to 5, and the reading tables and chairs are for kids aged 5 to 6.

We also made a series of theme designs for the outside space. The arc holes in the doors and walls, coupled with transparent stained glass walls, can cast dappled light and shadow like being in a forest, thus attracting kids to play here and spark their imaginations for beauty. We set up various rides around the big tree in the round lawn, and kids could enjoy themselves in a forested yard.
