Rout 185, Take a Deep Breath

Route 185 in Pingtung County epitomizes a philosophy of leisurely life appreciation, blending speed and slowness like a living organic city. Its distinctive pace reflects a rhythm and lifestyle brimming with vitality. Serving as a vital artery, it sustains indigenous, Hakka, and Minnan communities in the Da Wu mountain tribes and foothills, shaping Route 185's unique lifestyle circle.

The main visual design is themed around leaf veins, symbolizing Rout 185. Although it is a simple dual-lane road, much like the main vein of a leaf, it transports nutrients to the Minnan and Hakka ethnic groups in the tribal communities of Dawu Mountain and at the foot of the mountain. Through a well-connected transportation network, it links the economy, culture, and life between urban and rural areas.


The exhibition introduction showcases the abundant local produce found along Route 185 as the primary spatial design element. This includes indigenous crops like millet and red quinoa, coffee, as well as products from the Hakka community such as cocoa fruit and chocolate, along with pineapples grown by the Minnan people. Bundles of straw are also incorporated to infuse the space with the aroma of these agricultural products.
