About The Entry

The ORIGINAL TONE is situated in Sanya, a the coastal city in south China. Responding to natural protection, coastal features, local cultural heritage, and other qualities of the site, along with the existing challenges, the landscape design introduced the idea of "escaping the city and rediscovering the courtyard". By employing simple architectural textures and a natural spatial pattern, it aimed to reflect the social awareness of harmonizing human life with nature. This approach inspires residents to seek a modest and peaceful world while revitalizing the community's refined ambiance, preserving a natural realm, and crafting a sophisticated environment. Following completion, the site has noticeably enhanced its surroundings and effectively upheld the city's traditional culture and recalled historical essence.

The design brief aims to enhance the development's appeal by integrating regional natural and cultural elements into the project's landscape design. The design embodies a blend of modern resort luxury with an elegant retreat, emphasizing local culture and drawing inspiration from the spiritual essence of traditional Chinese gardens. This approach provides visitors with a multi-faceted emotional experience within the resort's landscape. By strategically placing stones, arranging waterscape, shaping mounds of soil into hills, and harmonizing the terrain, a sophisticated and relaxed living environment is crafted. Leveraging traditional garden techniques such as "opposite scenery" and "blocking scenery", the design situates courtyards within forests, inviting individuals to explore layered and captivating landscapes as they wander through the woods.
