About The Entry

Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li Chengdu is a joint development by Swire Properties and Sino-Ocean Group, located in Jinjiang District’s retail hub, near the bustling Chunxi Road shopping area. Spanning over 100,000 square meters, this open, low-density shopping center integrates the city’s cultural elements, such as ancient temples, plazas, and alleyways, into a vibrant, sustainable creative district. The design focuses on creating a dynamic interplay between spaces, with varying widths of streets, terraced setbacks, and enclosed courtyards. The aim is to foster interaction and collaboration within a lively urban environment. The restaurant's design challenges the traditional separation of interior and exterior spaces. The solution is a transparent, continuous side façade and a glass canopy that dissolves the boundary between inside and outside, embedding the restaurant into the surrounding urban fabric. The restaurant's layout flows from a lively entrance, through an intimate sushi counter area, to private dining rooms overlooking the plaza and quiet streets. The interior features a strong sense of symmetry and rhythm, with soaring ceilings at the entrance and a secluded, serene atmosphere in the deep zones. The kitchen remains discreetly in the back, with service pathways that are closed during operating hours. Key design elements include a rotating bar counter that serves both indoor and outdoor guests, and Japanese lanterns that enhance the convivial mood. The canopy shelters both day and night zones, with a fire exit incorporated on the side façade. The restaurant, by blurring boundaries between interior and exterior, becomes a vibrant part of the street, allowing seamless interaction with the surrounding environment.
