About The Entry
This project reflects on the negative impact of fast fashion on the environment from the perspective of the unique attitudes and mental models of the elderly. In the course of the research, I gained an in-depth understanding of the views and attitudes of the elderly towards life, and found that they generally have a more relaxed, restrained lifestyle that emphasises quality rather than quantity. Such values coincide with the concept of ‘sustainable, personalised and close to nature’ advocated by Slow Fashion.
I use the leisure activities in their daily lives as a source of inspiration, such as walking, playing chess, sewing, gardening, etc., from which I extract the visual and emotional elements and combine them with the language of clothing design, to convey a gentle obsession with life and an aesthetic interest in focusing on details.
Through this series of design works, I not only hope to arouse the public's attention to the wisdom of life of the elderly group, but also hope to use fashion as a carrier to trigger people to reflect on the phenomenon of fast fashion, and encourage more people to choose a more meaningful and responsible way of dressing.
