Yanchuan 9-Year School

Yanchuan 9-Year School is a 36-class institution with a total floor area of approximately 41,000 square meters. Given the project's high plot ratio of 2.2 and relatively limited campus space, the design team innovatively proposed three core concepts: "Community Campus," "Grade-Based Units," and "Multi-Dimensional Space."

Guided by the "Community-Integrated Campus" philosophy, the design fully integrates shared resources both inside and outside the school with surrounding cultural, sports, and landscape amenities, creating a vibrant urban sports belt that provides diversified services for the neighboring community. Meanwhile, drawing inspiration from the traditional spatial layout of Yanchuan Ancient Village, the design adopts a "Grade-Based Academies" arrangement, forming clusters of building courtyards surrounded by natural landscapes. This approach establishes a distinctive academy-style teaching community that meets modern educational needs while preserving local cultural heritage.

In terms of spatial organization, the teaching buildings feature flexible learning spaces by placing adaptable classrooms and teachers' offices on the same floor. Carefully designed corridor spaces incorporate furniture and landscape elements, transforming ordinary passageways into dynamic hubs for student interaction and daily communication. Notably, the design creates tiered retreating garden terraces through multi-level spatial planning, ensuring students on all floors have easy access to outdoor activities. A well-planned three-dimensional corridor system interconnects various functional nodes, ultimately forming a multi-layered public space network that fosters a lively and interactive learning environment for both teachers and students.
