About The Entry

The Zespri Shanghai Office Renovation Project is a perfect fusion of New Zealand's natural vitality with Shanghai's dynamic urban energy. This project ingeniously integrates Shanghai's urban motifs (e.g., subway-tile patterns) with New Zealand's organic textures (kiwi vines as partition screens), reimaging the workplace as a "Biophillic-Cultural Hybrid Neighborhood".

Centered around the "Vortex" concept, dynamic ABW zones (Recharge, Focus, Synergy) were introduced to adapt to employees' emotional and functional needs, mimicking natural energy flows. This contrasts with static offices, boosting productivity by over 15% (post-occupancy data). Biophilic branding elements such as greenery walls, which enhance space appeal and double as brand storytelling canvases, were applied to fuse sustainability with brand identity. Besides, a "Reduced Path" universal design was adopted throughout the renovation—curved walkways (inspired by vortex motion) shorten distances between zones, and Feng Shui principles optimize natural light flow—reducing artificial lighting dependency and creating an equitable, flexible, and sensory-rich work atmosphere.

The renovation process referenced LEED and WELL building standards, providing a solid foundation for future green building certification. Eco-friendly materials such as renewable wood veneers and low-VOC paints were utilized. The spatial layout was optimized to maximize natural daylight, reducing reliance on artificial lighting. High-efficiency LED lighting and sensor-based lighting systems were installed across all areas, enabling zoned control and improved energy efficiency. Moreover, the air conditioning system was designed based on zoning and usage frequency analysis to reduce unnecessary energy consumption. Modular furniture and movable partitions were used to enhance space adaptability and reuse potential.

The Zespri Shanghai Office Renovation Project empowers employees while embodying Zespri's mission of "cultivating excellence through fresh food and fresh thinking", creating a workspace that motivates, connects, and thrives.
