Ducados Rubio Extra Limited Editions: Creating collectible limited edition designs that reaffirm the brands Spanish heritage and drives engagement and enthusiasm for local brands through evocative and inspiring storytelling.
Starting life in 1945, Ducados was the first Spanish brand of its kind, initially focusing on dark tobacco – the most significant segment in the 20th century – before introducing its Rubio line under the Fortuna American blonde cigarettes umbrella in 2005, reflecting more 21st century preferences.
The new strategy roots Ducados firmly in Spanish culture, using limited editions tied to significant cultural events in the country to strengthen the brand's connection to local traditions such as the flamenco of Malaga’s Feria festival.
Through further exploration into the significance of tradition, heritage and the importance of local festivals, the new limited-edition found its sweet spot. Rooted in consumers’ need for escapism, desire for high energy moments amongst the everyday fun and play, and to create memories with loved ones, the design telegraphs spirit of the ‘Fiera de Malage’.
Inspired by prominent paper lanterns and the polka-dot pattern visible throughout the festival, the limited-edition design comes to life. The concept is a fusion of traditional Flamenco elegance with the lively and spirited energy brough by the polka dots. A true reflection of the sentiment of the festival bringing great standout and playfulness.
