About The Entry
St. Moritz Penthouse, a top-tier luxury residence in Shenzhen, achieves spatial expansion through a two-story addition. With "Italian lightweight luxury" as its design core, it constructs a functionally diverse and richly layered aerial dwelling in the vertical dimension. The design emphasizes spatial fluidity and the interplay of light, utilizing a double-height structure, extensive glazing, and imported Italian furniture to create a transparent, lightweight living experience that blends artistry with practical value.
Design Innovation
The design innovation centers on a vertical spatial narrative, a transparent material palette, and a clear zoning strategy. The space is organized around a vertical void system, where the double-height living room and the mezzanine study visually and functionally interconnect. A glass elevator and railings dissolve floor boundaries, guiding the natural flow of light. The spiral staircase, with its curved form combining glass and metal, enhances the artistic fluidity of the circulation.
Functionally, a "upper-level quietness, lower-level activity" vertical zoning strategy is implemented: the mezzanine houses a serene reading lounge, while the lower level incorporates a bar area, facilitating a clear separation between contemplative and social scenes. The residence is furnished throughout with Italian pieces, employing a refined mix of velvet, solid wood, metal, and stone. This material dialogue introduces subtle layers of texture within a minimalist framework, embodying the unity of function, materiality, and sensibility inherent to Italian lightweight luxury aesthetics.
