Isles Bathed in Gentle Light

The design team drew inspiration from the homeowner’s hometown memories, weaving sentiment into daily living and softening the coldness often found in standardized interiors. The result is a home that feels warm, personal, and full of stories. The TV wall in the shared living area features a mural of Guishan Island, a coastal symbol of Yilan, that seamlessly extends across a concealed door, allowing the vast island scenery of the homeowner’s roots to unfold uninterrupted. Aside from the window, a raised platform serves as a private stage for the homeowner’s passion for music, enriching the atmosphere with a touch of artistry and emotional resonance.
A child-friendly design lies at the heart of this project, prioritizing comfort and safety in every detail. Minimized sharp edges, while all finishes employ non-formaldehyde paint and non-toxic decorative cement, reflecting a deep commitment to children’s health. Grade-1 energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems reduce energy consumption while maintaining optimal air quality and temperature throughout the year, creating a healthy interior environment. Through the integration of sustainable materials, environmental awareness, and thoughtful safety design, the project creates a loving and nurturing home where the family can grow with peace of mind, transforming everyday living into a gentle practice of coexistence with nature.
In response to the need to host large family gatherings, the designer expanded the entryway to facilitate smooth movement, creating an open and spacious arrival experience. A pegboard wall with modular hooks offers versatile storage solutions to balance function, order, and visual lightness.
