BLOSSOMS VILLA

This project sits at the foot of Chaoshan, using the plum blossom as a poetic medium to merge the elegance of Song Dynasty aesthetics with the sensibilities of contemporary living. It seeks to create an ideal retreat beyond the city—an environment where the spirit may rest, reconnect with nature, and rediscover the tranquility and poetry of life. Guided by the theme of “Song Rhyme and Plum Blossom Shadow,” the design draws from the refined tastes of Song-era literati and Chaoshan’s deep plum blossom culture, aspiring to shape a sanctuary of inherent elegance and self-contentment.

Rooted in a profound understanding of site context and modern emotional needs, the design interprets the millennial charm of Chaoshan and the serenity, subtlety, and purity of Song aesthetics. Using “Seeing the Mountain, Seeking the Plum” as a narrative entry, it translates ancient elegance into a contemporary spatial language and constructs a layered spatial sequence. Public areas are planned with openness and fluidity, dissolving boundaries between inside and outside to invite mountain views and plum shadows indoors. The multifunctional layout integrates living, tea tasting, landscape appreciation, and cultural exchange, forming a core space that accommodates both intimate domesticity and gatherings of cultivated friends.

Private zones shift toward introspection, privacy, and sensory calm. The spatial composition emphasizes serenity and comfort, offering a sanctuary for rest and contemplation. Materiality follows the Song spirit of restraint and refinement—natural wood, understated stone, paper-like textures, and refined metal accents compose a warm, rustic yet modern ambiance. Lighting mimics natural skylight or filters through screens to create gentle, dappled shadows reminiscent of plum branches, infusing the space with poetic motion. Furniture and objects embody the notions of "Elegant Gathering" and “Collection,” functioning as cultural artifacts that narrate a story of nature, refinement, and spiritual life.

Beyond a physical dwelling, this space becomes a vessel for the soul—harmonizing nature and culture, openness and tranquility, tradition and modernity. It aspires to reawaken a longing for poetic living and elevate everyday life with refined, immersive sensibility.
