Taiwan

The client of this project is an elderly Taiwanese entrepreneur who returned from Japan. After understanding the client's impression of his childhood home in Taiwan, the designer uses ancient building materials to interpret the modern oriental charm through new vocabulary, and integrates the characteristics of Japanese aesthetics to create a unique residential space for the owners of the enterprise group. Due to the client’s consideration of children’s safety, all walls were constructed into a smooth space with arc surfaces showing zero right angles. The designer also used terrazzo and rattan materials common in Taiwan in the 70s and 80s as the main material of the overall space. The wall of the public space uses titanium decorative strips to connect the woven cloth on the upper end of the wall and the white terrazzo on the lower half, and the cabinet facade uses rattan elements as a response. The overall design approach allows the memories from the client's childhood to travel through the torrent of time, and through the elegant retro new vocabulary, the client's family of three generations are immersed in humanistic taste, allowing them to taste the beautiful scenery of the years of life.
