About The Entry

Embracing the theme of praying, the 18th SOLANA Light Festival invites visitors into an immersive world of light and art. Here, Eastern aesthetics, modern technology, and emotional resonance come together to create a unique and meaningful experience for urban audiences.

The project draws inspiration from traditional Chinese paper-cutting art and auspicious symbols from myths. By reimagining the ancient ritual of making a wish through contemporary art languages such as light installations and interactive technology, it transforms this practice into a public art experience—something visitors can touch, take part in, and share. This creative approach addresses the modern longing for spiritual solace and cultural belonging.

Guided by the narrative “In Search of Light, In Pursuit of Wishes,” the experience unfolds across ten distinct “Wish Realms,” each thoughtfully woven into SOLANA’s existing architecture and plaza layouts. The journey begins at the West Entrance’s “Gate of Illuminated Blessings,” where a pathway of softly lit trees guides visitors forward. From there, they move through a succession of evocative installations: “Paper Cadences of Prosperity,” evoking abundance; “A Realm of Longevity,” celebrating wellness; “Carps Leaping Over the Dragon Gate,” symbolizing advancement; “A Scroll of Luminous Love,” expressing fated romance and devoted partnership; and “A Paper Lane of Reunion,” honoring togetherness. Finally, the journey culminates at the “Gate of Wishing Light.” Every scene is designed with dual intent: to guide the footsteps and to carry the heart, creating both a seamless walk and a deeply resonant journey.

To enhance playful engagement, the project incorporates AR interactions. Visitors can catch virtual red envelopes, adopt a lucky carp, discover hidden auspicious creatures, and step on “Fu” (blessing) characters. A companion mini-program also allows visitors to collect digital blessings along the way. Cultural resonance and social vibrancy are further amplified through curated events, such as an intangible cultural heritage fashion show at the Cupid Plaza and a ceremonial lighting event at the Copper Sphere Plaza. The light design itself is also expressive. Its color palette shifts thoughtfully to reflect each thematic focus—wealth, health, love, and more—creating enchanting environments that are rich in tradition, emotionally warm, and visually striking.
