This project is a contemporary landscape design with the aesthetics of the Song Dynasty as its spiritual core, not simply replicating the form of Song-style gardens but aims to reconstruct a lifestyle that pursues eternity and inner peace through a profound dialogue with these aesthetics. The project takes "A Dreamlike Long Scroll" as its spatial narrative thread, aiming to find a spiritual haven for modern urban life.
In terms of design techniques, we have delved into the spiritual ambiance of Song and Yuan masterpieces such as "Along the River During the Qingming Festival," translating them into four immersive space sequences. Through subtle handling of site elevation differences, we create a courtyard with "sunken landscapes" and guide a transformation ritual of "returning home is like transcending the world" featuring a 4.35-meter elevation difference and a 135-meter upper corridor.
[Techniques and Materials: Restrained Aesthetics, Material Expression]
The design strictly adheres to the principles of restraint and modesty, extensively using plain bricks, gray tiles, wooden structures, and other rustic materials. With minimalist lines, exquisite framed and borrowed scenery, and a few touches of elegant colors that match the hues of Song Dynasty ceramics, it constructs a myriad of scenes within the blank spaces.
[Core Highlights: Contemporary Translation of Literature and Painting]
The project transforms classical philosophy and artistic ambiance into a tangible material space: it reproduces the charm of the Orchid Pavilion gathering through a 73-meter curved stream and a 500㎡ lake; at nodes such as the 100㎡ waterfront tea pavilion, it balances the spiritual needs for social interaction and individual solitude, weaving sound, light, shadow, and stone into a perceptible long scroll.
This project transcends the application of symbolic traditional elements and explores and establishes a contemporary Oriental aesthetic design paradigm led by cultural spirit in spatial narratives. It proves that traditional aesthetics are not mere exhibits in museums but can be translated into a vivid soul-calming experience, providing a benchmark case with academic depth and practical value in terms of cultural heritage and innovation.
