About The Entry

This project presents an intelligent mixed reality headset designed specifically for high-precision, hands-on prototyping environments such as design studios and model-making workshops. The product focuses on how spatial sensing and adaptive interface feedback can enhance concentration, safety, and procedural understanding during complex manual tasks.

The headset integrates a multi-sensor perception system that continuously maps the workspace, recognizes tools and materials, and tracks gesture, posture, and gaze direction. Through real-time spatial understanding, the device identifies task stages, detects operational risks, and interprets subtle shifts in user attention. This enables the system to offer context-specific visual cues, safety reminders, and action guidance without disrupting the user’s workflow.

A dual-layer lens structure supports both protection and clarity. The outer lens provides physical shielding against dust and debris common in foam-cutting and sanding environments, while the inner display layer delivers stable and precise MR overlays. This allows users to access guidance while maintaining unobstructed awareness of real-world tools and materials.

The adaptive UI reacts to the user’s cognitive load, reducing information density during high-intensity operations and expanding feedback when the user needs confirmation or correction. Instead of forcing constant interaction, the system behaves like an intelligent assistant—observing, understanding, and intervening only when necessary.

Designed with balanced weight distribution, intuitive controls, and a modular hardware layout, the headset supports extended use during lengthy workshop sessions. Its combination of spatial sensing, intelligent interpretation, and protective hardware design makes it a specialized MR product tailored to real workshop conditions rather than generic mixed-reality use.

Overall, the project explores how intelligent MR technology can meaningfully support hands-on making, bridging digital guidance with physical practice to create a safer, more focused, and more adaptive crafting experience.
