About The Entry

In the context of the integrated development of home-based care and community medical–elderly services, older adults’ daily activities are becoming increasingly diverse. Frequent transitions between indoor and outdoor environments have increased the complexity of mobility needs. While existing mobility devices often perform well in specific scenarios, most are designed for single functions and lack flexibility for seamless multi-scenario transitions. This results in fragmented user experiences, higher learning and maintenance costs, and difficulties in storage and management.

SOYI, derived from the Chinese idiom “lao you suo yi” (ensuring reliable support for the elderly), reflects strong humanistic care and social responsibility. The system consists of two interconnected modules: a home module and an outdoor module. The home module is designed as a multifunctional health chair integrating health monitoring, assisted short-distance mobility, rest, and basic caregiving support. The outdoor module functions as an attachable mobility shell, transforming the system into a safe assisted vehicle for community travel. Through organic integration, SOYI breaks the separation between indoor and outdoor devices, reduces switching burden, and provides a continuous, flexible, and user-friendly cross-scenario mobility experience.

Against the backdrop of accelerating global aging, assistive mobility products have become essential in home-based and community-based elderly care systems. SOYI enables seamless adaptation across home–community–public space scenarios, supporting needs from static rest to dynamic mobility and social participation. Compared with single-scenario products, it offers greater versatility, longer product lifecycle, higher usage frequency, and stronger user retention. Its modular and customizable configuration accommodates diverse physical conditions while reducing procurement, storage, and management costs.

Beyond functional integration, SOYI introduces a continuous mobility paradigm that contributes to both physical and psychological well-being. Health-monitoring functions enable early risk detection and reduce dependence on daily caregiving. The intelligent mobility configuration supports safer movement, encourages community engagement, and mitigates social isolation. Through human-centered interaction, modular upgradability, and sustainable design, SOYI enhances autonomy, dignity, and quality of life, offering a forward-looking solution for future elderly-care environments.
