Landscape design of InterContinental Shanghai Dishui Lake

Formerly Crowne Plaza Dishui Lake, which commenced operations in 2012, InterContinental Shanghai Dishui Lake has established itself as a renowned coastal sanctuary in Shanghai, anchored by its distinctive positioning of "One Island, One Hotel". In 2022, InterContinental Hotels Group took over the renovation project, carrying forward its illustrious legacy.

The landscape renovation and enhancement design draws inspiration from the "Ocean Secret Realm". Leveraging Dishui Lake’s geographical attribute as Shanghai’s closest waterfront to the open sea, as well as the hotel’s immersive seascape setting, marine elements such as shellfish and corals are artfully integrated into the spatial configuration. A four-phase immersive experience sequence is curated: starting from the fountain waterscape and framed feature wall at the entrance, meandering to the mirror waterscape and artistic screen wall at the conference center, converging at the plaza and lawn of the wedding center, and culminating at the bar and waterfront of the infinity pool. This design strives to create a seamless vacation ambiance where land and sea converge, resonating with the aesthetic dynamism of the hotel’s architecture and interior design.

The renovation design pursues an optimal cost-benefit ratio. The "acupuncture-style renewal" strategy has set a benchmark for the renovation of luxury hotels in the era of stock assets, demonstrating that targeted design and meticulous management can drive a substantial elevation of brand value even with limited investment.

Since its completion, the hotel has not only emerged as a landmark of Lingang New Area but also been widely acclaimed by netizens as "the pinnacle of high-end hospitality at Dishui Lake", continuing to write a new chapter in the enduring vacation legacy of Shanghai’s East Coast.
