Green City · Cloud Wave Mountain

Nestled in the forested hills of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, the Green City · Cloud Wave Mountain project redefines what a real estate sales center can be. Guided by the philosophy of “Creating an Ideal Dwelling Rooted in Spirit, Nature, and Light,” the design transcends conventional functionality to become an immersive “CO-life” hub where living, leisure, and artistry coexist.

The site presented significant spatial constraints: low ceilings, a dense column grid, and a central stairwell that fragmented the floor plan. Rather than conceal these conditions, the design embraces them as opportunities. The stair core is reimagined as a 360-degree circular bookshelf corridor—a sculptural spine that not only softens the visual impact of structural columns but also gently separates business and leisure zones while preserving visual continuity and encouraging interaction. To further alleviate the sense of compression, a ring of mirrored stainless steel suspended from the ceiling amplifies natural light and evokes a subtle illusion of height, while strategic floor lowering creates subtle spatial zoning without physical barriers. Living greenery and bespoke art installations dissolve the boundary between indoors and outdoors, drawing Xishuangbanna’s forested landscape deep into the space.

Sales functionality is de-emphasized in favor of experience. A sunken scale model invites guests to envision life here through moments of calm. The leisure area unfolds as a literary-inspired cafe, echoing Xishuangbanna’s unhurried, resort-like spirit. Sustainability is also embedded in the project’s DNA. It is planned for adaptive reuse as a community cultural space, bypassing future demolition or costly retrofit and embodying a truly lifecycle-oriented approach.

More than a sales space, the Green City · Cloud Wave Mountain is a meditation on dwelling itself. It proofs that even within tight physical limits, thoughtful design can cultivate a warm, open, and deeply resonating sanctuary for modern life.
