Children with Osteogenesis Imperfecta face constant fracture risk, while traditional rigid orthoses often cause discomfort, anxiety, and secondary injury. FractAlert Guardian shifts protection from passive restraint to early awareness and adaptive response.
By combining motion sensing, force detection, and soft materials, it predicts risky movements, delivers gentle alerts, and buffers impact before fractures occur—supporting safety without sacrificing comfort, confidence, or dignity.
Design Description
FractAlert Guardian integrates a memory-foam–based soft structure, stiffness-distributed weaving, and a pneumatic sleeve system to dynamically absorb torsional and impact forces while remaining comfortable for daily wear.
Embedded IMU and electromyographic signals monitor movement and skeletal load, triggering gentle vibration alerts when fracture risk increases.
Detachable and washable components support long-term use and growth adaptation for children.
Through soft materials and predictive sensing, GuardianSense transforms fracture protection from rigid immobilization into proactive, human-centered care.
