This project is a private residence located on a hillside in Beverly Hills. Rather than being conceived as a vacation home, MOZ SPACE approached the design with an emphasis on sustainable living, responding to real-life needs shaped by family structure, cultural relocation, and changes in the urban environment.
Drawing from the openness and freedom associated with Los Angeles, alongside the restraint and subtlety inherent in Eastern modes of living, MOZ SPACE adopts a cross-cultural design perspective. These two cultural characteristics are integrated in an understated manner—preserving the delicate sense of scale and order found in Eastern spatial traditions while embracing the Western emphasis on openness, nature, and social interaction.
The focus of the design is not stylistic expression, but the reconfiguration of the relationship between space and nature, the softening of interior–exterior boundaries, and the thoughtful use of color and material to support long-term habitation. Through this approach, the residence establishes a lasting and relaxed living experience that situates family life between city, nature, and art.
