Phoenix Splendor in the Clouds

The design draws on Jinan’s time-honored spring culture, channeling the living water from Baotu Spring and Baiquan into the garden. Through the diverse morphological transformations of springs, streams and ponds, it weaves a three-dimensional landscape scroll. Art galleries and tranquil teahouses echo the elegant spatial patterns of traditional gardens, integrating Song-dynasty leisure scenes such as listening to the gurgling springs, savoring tea and appreciating landscapes. The four poetic dimensions of "strolling, viewing, wandering and residing" are seamlessly embodied in the scenery. A micro water circulation system is established via roof runoff collection, gravel drainage trenches, phytoremediation and a central water feature. A great deal of locally sourced stone is adopted, achieving an organic integration of modern craftsmanship, ecological sustainability and cultural artistic conception, and thus creating a contemporary livable landscape imbued with the charm of the Song Dynasty.
