About The Entry
City streets are never smooth. A single commute can present multiple surface changes: Uneven pavement, asphalt patches, cracked concrete, bridge expansion joints, fissures, and sudden manhole covers constantly break your flow. For runners, the landing impact force is two to three times that of walking. Beginners, who have less control over their muscles and stride, face a higher probability of injury when dealing with complex road conditions and the greater impact forces of running. The physical discomfort and psychological frustration often force their training to a halt right at the start. The ANTA FOLD-Z addresses the rhythm challenges faced by beginner runners, using an innovative folding structure to harmonize their pace and ensure that runs are no longer cut short by discomfort. Designed for beginners, the ANTA FOLD-Z features a lightweight, adaptive, and cushioned design with a folding metamaterial sole inspired by Eastern paper-folding culture. Its unique folding structure creates a dual-stage cushioning system, providing soft support during walking through structural compression and absorbing impact during jogging with TPU material. This ensures a smoother switch and transition between walking and running for beginners. On uneven streets, the sole automatically adapts to your movement, delivering a stable, agile, and lightweight training experience for beginners with varying cadence, and effectively reducing fatigue during extended exercise. The ANTA FOLD-Z elevates 2D origami pattern into 3D mechanical system, enabling the midsole to respond in real-time to different landing patterns and load changes. Within the Resch structural units, paired star-shaped structures are embedded in the overall origami surface and compress against each other, effectively resisting buckling and providing significant load-bearing capacity. When these star-shaped structures fully close, the foam material of two adjacent square sections makes full contact, activating the second stage of cushioning performance. Cushioning no longer relies on stacked materials but evolves from the structure itself.
