About The Entry
Located in a bustling urban district, this project involves the renovation of a 30-year-old apartment. The original space suffered from common structural issues found in older Taiwanese buildings: low ceilings, oppressive structural beams, and insufficient natural lighting. The client desired a serene sanctuary that offers the relaxation of a boutique hotel, providing a retreat from the chaotic city life.
Design Strategy:
Softening and Reshaping Structure: Faced with massive existing beams, we avoided traditional boxing methods that lower ceiling heights. Instead, we employed curved surfaces and floating ceiling designs. The arcs dissolve the sharp volume of the beams, while linear indirect lighting visually extends the vertical height, effectively eliminating the sense of oppression.
Monochromatic Aesthetic: The entire space adopts a low-saturation "Warm Beige" palette. By extending a unified color scheme, the boundaries between walls and ceilings are blurred, creating a visual expansion of the space. The combination of warm wood veneers and textured paints cultivates a tranquil atmosphere reminiscent of a luxury hotel.
Narrative of Light: We reorganized the layout to maximize natural light penetration. Complemented by carefully arranged 3500K artificial lighting, the space exhibits different expressions from day to night.
