Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru

For the airport lounge at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, klove Studio conceived lighting as a zoned architectural system, responding to passenger movement, ceiling variations, and functional use rather than a single decorative layer. The brief required the lighting to feel rooted in Indian context, visually restrained, and robust for a high-traffic public environment.

Entrance & Reception

The arrival zone was designed to establish identity and orientation. The Sunrise Wall Chandelier anchors the reception wall, using layered light and controlled spread to create a clear focal point without visual clutter. Its form references natural cycles, offering a calm yet defined first impression for travellers walking into the lounge.

Entrance Pathway

Along circulation routes, repeated pendant forms were used to create rhythm and guide movement. Controlled glare and consistent spacing ensure visual continuity and wayfinding, maintaining calm transitions between zones.

Main Seating Areas

Open seating zones required scale and spatial anchoring. We designed and created large installations such as Nicobar Tree, Wishing Tree, Cane Tree, Banyan by the River, and Chinar Fountain were deployed to define seating clusters within expansive volumes. The tree-inspired motifs reference shelter and gathering, while custom sizing ensured proportion and even light distribution across varying ceiling heights.

Dining & Buffet Areas

Dining areas demanded higher functional illumination. Stupa Pendants, Ashoka Pearl Pendants, and the custom Bombay Talkies installation provide focused downward lighting for clarity and comfort. Their geometric forms allow efficiency, ease of maintenance, and consistent performance while retaining cultural reference.

Nooks, Corners & Floor Lamps

Smaller zones such as reading corners and relaxation areas with spas were treated with lower-intensity lighting. Floor lamps and sculptural pieces like Chinar floor lamp, Rose lamp and Ganga Arti introduce softer pools of light, creating visual pause points without physical partitions.

Across the lounge, light levels and materials were calibrated to reduce visual fatigue while maintaining warmth and durability.
