FreshLite is a smart lunch box designed to reduce food-safety risks caused by over-storing—an especially common behavior in older adults. Instead of relying on smell or guesswork, FreshLite enables a simple, reliable check: press the button to start an inspection, and the system analyzes the gases released by deteriorating food using two sensors integrated into the lid.
Its core value lies in “see it instantly.” After sensing and processing the gas signals (supported by an algorithm and fuzzy inference), FreshLite translates spoilage levels into an intuitive, highly visual result through a perimeter light strip, allowing users to understand risk at a glance without interpreting complex numbers. For users who need more detail, the design also allocates a dedicated display area for richer information and clearer guidance.
FreshLite extends beyond a single device through connectivity. With a built-in Wi-Fi module, inspection results can be shared across multiple mobile devices, enabling logging, monitoring, and remote support from family members or caregivers when needed. By combining compact hardware integration with immediate visual feedback and multi-device access, FreshLite offers a practical, scalable approach to everyday food spoilage detection—helping users make safer decisions before a meal becomes a health hazard.
