Castaway Bed – Reconfigurable Split-King Sleep System

Castaway Bed introduces a reconfigurable sleep system designed to transform spatial boundaries within a fixed bedroom footprint.
Unlike traditional adjustable or split-king systems that focus on surface-level personalization, Castaway Bed enables physical reconfiguration of the sleep environment itself. The system integrates two motorized Twin XL bases within a frame that conceals a patent-pending structural center platform anchored to the floor.
In its closed configuration, the bed presents as a cohesive king footprint. When reconfigured, the bases move laterally apart, revealing the stationary center platform between them and creating defined individual sleep zones. The transformation is achieved through controlled base movement while the structural platform remains grounded, preserving stability and reducing mechanical complexity.
Beyond separation, the expanded configuration can increase usable surface area for co-sleeping or temporary spatial expansion—extending functionality beyond standard king dimensions without permanently increasing room footprint.
Castaway Bed is compatible with select adjustable bases, allowing elevation and comfort features to operate independently within the reconfigurable system.
