About The Entry
RainMark Seed Cards is a rain-triggered micro-greening device that empowers urban residents to participate in ecological restoration with a single, accessible action. Designed to address the high cost and maintenance barriers of traditional vertical greening, this innovation transforms ordinary building facades, balconies, and public spaces into vibrant, living ecosystems.
Crafted from 100% biodegradable plant fiber paper, each card integrates an absorbent cotton layer and mixed wildflower seeds. Its defining feature is a hydrophobic "rainmark texture"—a functional pattern that guides rainwater to activate the seeds, turning passive waiting into an engaging, natural process. When rain falls, water flows through the texture, saturating the cotton layer and triggering germination. Over time, the seeds sprout, bloom, and eventually degrade back into the soil, creating a zero-waste, circular lifecycle.
By eliminating the need for complex irrigation systems or professional installation, RainMark makes urban greening inclusive and scalable. Residents can simply peel and stick the cards to any rain-exposed surface, watching as their contribution grows into colorful, pollinator-friendly blooms. This design not only enhances urban biodiversity but also fosters a deeper connection between people and the environment, turning every participant into a steward of their city’s future.
