Cycle of Cosmic Life is a contemporary design exhibition that reinterprets traditional East Asian cosmology through the language of digital visual culture and sustainability discourse. The project draws inspiration from the Twelve Chinese Zodiac animals and the Twenty-Eight Lunar Mansions, two ancient astronomical systems that historically structured time, space, and human understanding of the cosmos.

In classical cosmology, these celestial symbols represent the dynamic relationship between heaven, earth, and human life. This exhibition transforms those cultural archetypes into futuristic bio-mythological creatures, visualized through digital aesthetics and speculative biology. Each figure becomes a symbolic guardian of ecological balance, embodying themes aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as biodiversity protection, climate resilience, environmental ethics, and planetary coexistence.

The visual system integrates generative graphics, experimental typography, and layered digital textures to create a hybrid aesthetic between mythology and technological imagination. Every poster is accompanied by a short poetic verse inspired by the structure of classical Chinese quatrains, bridging ancient literary traditions with contemporary environmental narratives. Through this combination of visual design and poetic language, the exhibition constructs a dialogue between cultural memory and future ecological consciousness.

Beyond a conventional gallery presentation, the exhibition expands into multiple spatial formats, including large-scale suspended posters, immersive exhibition displays, and urban visual installations. These spatial interventions allow the works to interact with architectural environments and public spaces, transforming the exhibition into a multi-layered visual journey where visitors encounter cosmic symbols, speculative creatures, and environmental messages within a unified narrative landscape.

By merging ancient cosmological knowledge, contemporary digital design, and global sustainability discourse, Cycle of Cosmic Life positions design as a cultural medium capable of translating traditional symbolic systems into new visual languages. The project proposes a future-oriented Eastern eco-aesthetic that transcends linguistic and cultural boundaries while encouraging audiences to reconsider humanity’s role within the cosmic cycle of life.
