Located within the Clock Tower of Wudadao Park—a cultural landmark in Tianjin—this project is an immersive natural science exploration paradise tailored for families with children aged 4 to 14. In an era where cultural tourism experiences are shifting from sightseeing to in-depth engagement, it leverages the premium IP resources of “Chinese National Geography” to create a multi-functional space that integrates science communication, parent-child interaction, and the showcase of the city’s image.
The design concept stems from an ultimate reproduction of natural landscapes that are difficult to reach, difficult to observe, and difficult to reproduce. Breaking away from conventional geometric forms, the project establishes a continuous circular touring route based on three themes: the jungle, the valley, and the ocean. The color palette is strictly derived from natural hues: layered shades of green evoke the deep tranquility of forests; warm red and yellow lights, along with confined cave-like structures, allow visitors to embark on a thrilling journey through the earth’s core; deep blue light, coupled with water ripple projections, creates a dreamlike, soothing ocean atmosphere. This approach of guiding emotional flow through scenes enables visitors to complete a full emotional cycle—shifting from curiosity, to tension, and finally to serenity—as they move.
In terms of materials and processes, the project places equal emphasis on safety, environmental protection, and artistic authenticity. The high-reliability prefabricated profiles are utilized for the base structure to ensure safety. The surfaces employ extensive on-site handcrafted artistic textures instead of repetitive industrial ones, which, through techniques such as faux-stone carving, dynamic lighting, and custom non-standard fabrication, vividly reproduce the textures of weathered rocks, growing vegetation, and flowing water—transforming the space itself into a lively canvas that showcases the beauty of nature. Thanks to its meticulously designed spatial layout, the project organically integrates stage performance zones, themed retail outlets, and leisure water bars into themed entertainment areas without compromising the existing structure of the Clock Tower, resulting in a well-paced, multi-functional leisure plaza.
