Riverside Verdancy, a high-rise residence in Hangzhou’s Qianjiang New City, redefines premium living by translating the owner’s affinity for understated elegance and natural stone into a rigorous yet soulful spatial language.
Expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing invites the cityscape indoors, allowing natural light to dictate the spatial rhythm. To counteract color temperature shifts from intense southeastern exposure, the design team conducted systematic research into material color stability. Through rigorous testing, the space achieves a constant, soft luminosity. Whether in dawn’s crisp clarity or dusk’s warm tones, interior finishes maintain a delicate warmth, effectively dissolving the cold industrial undertone of high-rise living.
The layout transcends traditional functional segmentation. By dissolving physical barriers between the living room and the balcony, a continuous 180-degree panoramic view unfolds along the glass curtain wall. The kitchen, dining area, living room, and pantry flow into one another, where “implicit zoning” is achieved through the interplay of furniture forms and textural contrast. Here, the sharp lines of white custom cabinetry and the marble island engage in a dialogue of hardness and softness with the plush textiles of the living area.
The use of stone and fabric transcends mere decoration, elevating into an expression of regional context. The horizontal texture of the dining chair fabric evokes water ripples, while the silver-gray travertine suggests a sandy shore. Together with the rug, these elements visualize the dynamic confluence of the waterscape. This multi-material integration strategy avoids monotony, achieving high aesthetic consistency and embedding a “resort-like” serenity into daily life.
While pursuing openness, the design never overlooks the nuances of living behavior. The reading nook is precisely positioned in a corner that offers a broad view yet retains relative independence, internalizing the cityscape as a backdrop for contemplation. This orchestration of spatial sequence preserves the psychological boundaries of every family member, ensuring that while the residence embraces the grandeur of the landscape, it also tenderly envelops the individual’s spiritual world.
