About The Entry
The project is situated in Xili Street, Nanshan District, Shenzhen, near the Xili Lake Reservoir, within the scope of a water source protection area. The current state of the project is that of an urban village, with building coverage of approximately 34 hectares, involving about 583 buildings, most of which are self-built houses by villagers. The site features high building density, narrow spacing between buildings, constricted roads, insufficient public space, and a lack of or outdated infrastructure. The key renovation aspects of this project are: 1. Reorganizing interior functional spaces and adjusting them to dimensions more suitable for young people, and adding elevators to increase convenience. 2. Coordinating and enhancing the overall architectural style, renovating and improving the original damaged and cluttered building facades, implementing color zoning planning to create a harmonious and unified overall style while preserving the diversity of the buildings. 3. Opening up enclosed spaces, making fenced sports areas accessible, and removing existing park walls. 4. Reusing idle vacant land, transforming collapsed houses within the old village to create pocket parks, and forming building clusters around them. 5. Upgrading infrastructure, including sanitation, fire safety, parking, and others. 6. Connecting with surrounding planned greenways to attract pedestrian flow.
