Eastern District 24-Hour Animal Hospital — Compassionate Hea

Located in Shau Kei Wan, Hong Kong, the Eastern District 24-Hour Animal Hospital is the largest specialty pet hospital on Hong Kong Island. BW Design Centre was responsible for the complete interior design and systematic project management of this two-storey, nearly 8,000-square-foot facility within a 50-year-old building. The design adopts the brand’s signature blue tone combined with lively cat and dog motifs to create a warm and professional medical environment. The ground-floor lobby features an arched ceiling and segregated waiting zones (dedicated cat and dog areas) to alleviate animal anxiety. The upper floor houses meticulously zoned treatment areas, including operating theatres, intensive care units, radiology rooms, and a Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic, along with a serene “Rainbow Room” for memorializing departed pets, demonstrating profound humanistic care.

The project successfully addressed multiple challenges: strict approval from the building’s Owners’ Corporation and noise control compliance; lead shielding installation in radiology rooms with subsequent Radiation Board inspection; and structural reinforcement calculations by a qualified structural engineer for a one-ton CT scanner, including precise transportation routing. The hydraulic lift platform, fabricated with Italian-imported materials, was approved by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department after engineering verification. Cat-and-dog sticker photo walls and animal-patterned glass decals adorn the staircase and various spaces, reflecting care for both pets and owners in every detail. Through professional project management, BW Design Centre ensured timely delivery, realizing the client’s brand vision and functional requirements.
