This work integrates the spiritual beliefs of Muzha’s Zhongshun Temple with the daily life of Maokong tea farmers, transforming the legend of Baoyi Dafu—renowned for “repelling pests and warding off misfortune”—into a contemporary aesthetic expression.
The product features locally inspired tea tree and camphor tree aromas to gently repel common insects, reflecting the deity’s compassionate philosophy of “repelling without killing.”
Accompanied by a booklet that narrates the legend of Baoyi Dafu’s pest-repelling powers, the design creates a layered sensory experience through both storytelling and scent. The packaging is no longer merely a container, but a ritualistic cultural medium. By embracing “peaceful repulsion” over harm, the work conveys respect for life and reinterprets traditional wisdom within modern daily living.
