Ascend is a journey that helps travelers step out of noise, step into serenity, step up to Maokong, and step back to yourself. Through these four stages, you can savor Maokong’s ease and tea aroma, and gently return to the rhythm of life.
Maokong, located in the mountainous area of Taipei, Taiwan, marks the boundary between city and nature. We use the most iconic transport—the Maokong Crystal Gondola—as the core image. As the gondola rises, the passenger's view expands, revealing a clearer and more open landscape. When looking through the glass, they not only see the distant scenery but also their own reflection, a reminder that this journey belongs to them, and that their focus should return to themselves.
Through the gondola’s movement across Maokong’s unique terrain and pace of life, Ascend explores the rhythm and emotional shifts between urban and natural spaces, divided into four stages:
Step out of the noise: Leaving the fast-paced city, stepping out of daily stress and complexity. Grey tones reflect urban pressure and serve as a transitional state.
Step into serenity: Entering Maokong’s calm, embracing a slower rhythm. Green tones evoke nature’s cleansing effect, easing the mind.
Step up to Maokong: Reaching the mountaintop, where the view opens wide. Yellow tones represent cultural depth and local spirit.
Step back to yourself: After a day of healing, reconnecting with one’s true self. Blue tones symbolize clarity and inner peace.
This journey redefines movement, pause, and reflection—guiding travelers from the city’s noise back to their authentic selves.
