XiangLake Science Island Academic Center

This project, Xianghu Science Island, is one of Zhejiang Province's first 'Homes of Academicians,' located on Dingshan Island in Xianghu, Hangzhou. Leveraging the culture of the Cross-Lake Bridge and a century-long educational heritage, it was designed by Reade with an integrated 'brand-space' system, achieving a design upgrade from a cultural landmark to an international science and innovation hub.

The project is positioned as an 'Ecological Xianghu, Sci-Tech Oasis,' with 'Growth · Habitat' as its core design theme, constructing a brand visual system that combines extensibility with a scientific innovation temperament, achieving a visual unity of nature, humanities, and technology. The 22,000-square-meter space adopts a three-stage narrative curation: the 'Scientific Realm' creates an immersive sci-tech atmosphere, the 'Creative Oasis' builds open interactive and academic dialogue spaces, and the 'Lakeside Heart' provides cultural rest and a sense of belonging, forming a complete experiential flow.

The design follows principles of light intervention and organic renewal, reconstructing functions and optimizing scenarios based on existing sites, achieving spatial efficiency and elevated image levels with low investment. The space emphasizes openness, multifunctionality, and flexible adaptation, integrating academic exchanges, achievement showcases, and public experiences, promoting innovative interaction through a fluid layout, and creating a warm sci-tech ecological environment.

The project adopts the underlying logic that 'design empowers' and 'space is ecology,' forming a replicable growth-oriented sci-tech space design paradigm, transforming regional culture, natural landscapes, and scientific innovation functions into a sustainable innovation carrier, demonstrating the system integration, narrative creation, and value transformation capabilities of large-scale public sci-tech spaces.
