About The Entry

GunGun Folk & Rock Bar reconfigures the contemporary nightlife commercial landscape through the philosophical lens of Arte Povera. Eschewing the ostentatious luxury often found in conventional entertainment venues, the project explores the intrinsic dialogue between raw material textures and the architectural substrate. Through a low-saturation chromatic order and dramatic light orchestration, the space is transformed into an immersive field charged with narrative tension. By profoundly coupling the ritualism of a theater, the social intimacy of a café, and the restrained ethos of environmentalism, the design imbues the space with a rich materiality and humanistic depth, establishing a new artistic paradigm within a low-carbon context. The design maximizes the 7.5-meter vertical volume of the original architecture, achieving 'inward growth' through an integrated steel-mesh sloped roof structure. This tectonic logic disrupts the monotony of a singular floor plane, utilizing a dynamic interplay of sunken and elevated zones to simulate the layered hierarchy of a theater. The circulation follows a principle of 'gradient dissipation': visual communication at the entrance, driven by high-contrast illustration arrays, provides directional guidance, while the central bar acts as a geometric nucleus to optimize operational efficiency. Furniture dimensions were custom-developed based on anthropometrics, achieving a subtle dynamic equilibrium between transparency and privacy through textural transitions in floor materials and height variations, ensuring comfort for prolonged stay. The design pioneers two proprietary experimental techniques: 'Recycled Glass Recomposition & Cutting' and 'Composite Resin-Curing of Kraft Paper,' effectively repurposing industrial waste into tectonic spatial components with profound aesthetic value. Through geometric precision, discarded glass bottles are restructured into functional lighting fixtures characterized by fiber-optic luminosity. Similarly, waste kraft paper is transformed via a specialized resin-curing process into high-performance wall panels and furniture veneers with a leather-like grain.
