The project redefines spatial identity, transforming from a conventional ancillary clubhouse into an original boutique tea space. Initially serving as an elegant showroom for the sales office, it later evolves into an independently operated commercial entity. Departing from traditional clubhouse models, the space is structured modularly around the concept of “one chamber, one tea,” tailoring multi-dimensional tea-themed scenarios to each zone’s function. Every area gains a distinctive contextual expression, where subtlety reveals delight, and the essence of tea guides the experience.
The design orchestrates an emotional transition along the spatial flow—from a water bar social area blending contemporary tea culture with educational elements, to modular tea pavilions inspired by囲炉 (囲炉裏), “three ways” tea service, and floral teas, culminating in a gongfu tea experience within an exclusive VIP private dining area. Each spatial node becomes a narrative realm, capturing the refined charm of tea dwelling within modest dimensions.
A signature feature is the “house within a house” tea pavilion, introducing visual layering and a raised platform to cultivate ritual and serenity. Mirror-finished stainless steel flooring reflects surrounding water features, while rain chains and mist from humidifiers create a dynamic tableau of misty rain within the space. Material exploration, on-site validation, and iterative prototyping resolved challenges in pavilion construction, balancing aesthetics, safety, budget, and lead time. Metal with hydro-transfer printing, acrylic, and Japanese paper were ultimately selected, with manufacturing innovatively sourced from lighting specialists.
Rooted in Eastern philosophy, the design incorporates vintage furniture from local villages, including storage cabinets, camphor wood chests, and tiger-footed pedestals, celebrating durability and cultural memory. All wooden structures, including reclaimed timber, are treated with OEKO‑TEX® Standard wood wax oil to ensure zero indoor air pollution and protect occupant health. Through thoughtful material use, spatial narrative, and cross-disciplinary innovation, the project transforms a simple space into an immersive tea experience that engages, educates, and enchants.
